Carle Health temporarily halted elective surgical procedures at its Champaign, Ill. Ambulatory Surgery Center after extreme heat and humidity impacted the facility’s cooling system on July 1, according to a statement from the health system.

Elective cases scheduled for the afternoon of July 1 and the following day were rescheduled. The facility took immediate steps to resolve the cooling system issue and resumed normal operations following the holiday weekend.
