Five-Year-Old Dies Following Overdose of Anesthetic in Georgia

A five-year-old girl died in July after she received a lethal dose of the local anesthetic liodcaine during treatment for a broken arm at Family Medical Clinic in McDonough, Ga., according to a report by The Republic.

According to a local coroner, a provider at the Family Medical Clinic gave the girl a lethal dose of anesthesia. Jeff Lane, director of investigations for the Georgia Composite Medical Board, said he could not comment on whether the board is investigating the death.
