Downers Grove, Ill.-based Duly Health and Care has installed the da Vinci 5 surgical robot at its Lombard (Ill.) Surgery Center, making it the first ASC in Illinois and among five nationally to offer the technology.
The robotic system will support urologic, gynecologic and general surgery, according to a June 25 news release. The technology remains uncommon in freestanding outpatient settings, where many patients receive care and return home the same day.
The center is the only site in Illinois offering outpatient robotic radical prostatectomy with same-day discharge.
Lombard Surgery Center is now among a small number of ASCs nationwide operating two robotic surgical systems. The addition expands the medical group’s outpatient surgical capabilities as more complex procedures move from hospitals to ambulatory settings.
At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
