Mankato (Minn.) Eye Doctors has opened MED Surgical Suites on Adams Street in Mankato after years of planning, design and collaboration, Mankato Free Press reported June 23.
Physician partners Emily Birkholz, MD, and Nathan Carpenter, MD said the center was designed to support cataract surgery, eyelid procedures, laser treatments and other ophthalmic services. The surgery center operates Tuesday through Thursday.
Administrator Sara Emich said the facility is the result of years of planning. Looking ahead, the practice plans to continue expanding surgical services. Mankato Eye Doctors said its goal is to perform an average of 50 cataract surgeries and 15-20 other procedures each week, with the potential to rent the surgical suites to other providers.
