Cleveland Clinic has appointed Miguel Regueiro, MD, as executive vice president and enterprise chief of staff, effective June 1.
Dr. Regueiro has served as chief of Cleveland Clinic’s Digestive Disease Institute since 2021 and will report directly to CEO and President Tom Mihaljevic, MD, according to a May 29 system news release. He succeeds Beri Ridgeway, MD, who will become president of Cleveland Clinic London.
In his new role, Dr. Regueiro will help shape the health system’s clinical strategy and lead a global physician community that includes more than 6,000 physicians and 4,000 advanced practice providers.
An inflammatory bowel disease specialist, Dr. Regueiro is recognized for his research and clinical work in Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. His work in the management of postoperative Crohn’s disease has become a global standard of care, according to the release.
Before joining Cleveland Clinic in 2018, Dr. Regueiro spent nearly 20 years on faculty at Pittsburgh-based UPMC, where he served as director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center. He will continue leading the Digestive Disease Institute until an interim chair is named while the health system conducts a national search for his successor.
