Nashville, Tenn.-based Vanderbilt Health appointed David Parra, MD, associate director of its division of pediatric cardiology, effective July 1.
Dr. Parra is a professor of pediatrics, medicine and radiology and radiological sciences at Vanderbilt Health. He also serves as director of pediatric noninvasive imaging services and director of advanced cardiac imaging, according to a May 14 news release.
Dr. Parra joined Vanderbilt Health in 2004. In 2005, he launched the first pediatric and congenital cardiac MRI program at Vanderbilt’s Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital, which performs more than 400 studies annually for patients across Tennessee, Kentucky and Alabama.
He has also led the echocardiography laboratory since 2012, overseeing interpretation of more than 25,000 echocardiograms annually, including more than 2,000 fetal studies. Under his leadership, Vanderbilt Health expanded tele-echocardiography services to five regional centers across Tennessee.
