The focus of the practice centers on organizational dynamics with particular emphasis on strategic positioning, governance, planning, operational improvement and compensation design.
Prior to forming Physician Advisory Services in 1991, Mr. Baker served as the executive administrator of three different physician-owned medical group practices. He is a fellow and past president of the American College of Medical Practice Executives and a surveyor for the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), which currently accredits more than 4,000 organizations, including more than 2,500 ambulatory surgery centers. He is a member of their board of directors and governing council, and chairs AAAHC’s Standards and Survey Procedures Committee.
Mr. Baker’s recent engagement work has included roles serving as the “trust bridge” between health systems and physician groups considering membership in the system’s medical group; development and design of physician compensation methodologies; facilitation of strategic planning retreats; and the assessment of the governance and management structure for both single specialty and multi-specialty medical group practices. He regularly serves as a member of the faculty for professional association meetings.
