Eighty-six cardiology and electrophysiology codes — spanning catheter ablations, coronary revascularization procedures, electrophysiologic evaluations, heart failure management techniques and investigational device exemption studies — have been added to the ASC-covered services list, a move that could significantly expand the scope of cardiac care delivered in outpatient surgical settings and reshape how facilities bill for some of the most complex procedures in cardiovascular medicine. The complete list of 86 codes spans two addenda: the majority appear in Addendum AA, which governs separately payable surgical procedures, while nine codes covering transesophageal echocardiography and electrophysiologic evaluation appear in Addendum BB as ancillary services integral to covered surgical procedures.
