ModMed, an EHR and practice management system for ASCs, has added a tool enabling ophthalmologists to streamline their workflows.

IOR Partners, a management organization specializing in helping small ophthalmic practices, is working to give ophthalmologists the autonomy to operate outside traditional hospital and ASC settings, according to an Oct. 13 report from the Kansas City Business Journal. 

In 2021, insurer Aetna implemented a policy requiring Medicare Advantage patients to receive prior authorization for cataract surgeries nationwide. After receiving pushback from physicians, patients and advocates, it withdrew the policy in 2022 in every state except for Florida and Georgia.
