Darren M. Brenner, MD, is an assistant professor in medicine-gastroenterology, hepatology and surgery at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago. He is the principle gastroenterologist on a National Institutes of Health National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases-funded, multicenter project investigating the efficacy of minimal, contact cognitive behavioral therapy for irritable bowel syndrome.
Dr. Brenner is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and American College of Gastroenterology. He focuses on pharmacologic and alternative treatments for irritable bowel syndrome, gastrointestinal motility disorders and pelvic floor disorders. He also specializes in treating gastrointestinal disorders associated with scleroderma. His work has been published in a number of prestigious journals, such as Arthritis Research and Therapy, Clinical and Translational Gastroenterology and Neurogastroenterology and Motility. He is also spearheading the anoerctal manometry program at Northwestern.
Dr. Brenner earned his medical degree at University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship at University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor.
