Two Seattle Men Charged With Medicare Fraud

Garnik Karapetyan and Iacob Razumnii, both from the Seattle area, have been charged with separate schemes to defraud Medicare of more than $2.6 million combined, according to a report by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.


Mr. Karapetyan allegedly founded Seattle-based Federal Way Medical Equipments for the purpose of defrauding Medicare. He allegedly used stolen Medicare recipient data to file nearly 1,300 false claims in six months, defrauding the Medicare program of more than $1.9 million dollars.

In a separate scheme, Mr. Razumnii founded American Standard Medical Supply in Auburn, Wah., as an alleged front to defraud Medicare. He also allegedly used stolen Medicare recipient data to defraud Medicare of $753,000, according to the report.

Both men were charged with six counts of wire fraud, three counts of healthcare fraud and four counts of aggravated identity theft.
