Texas Medical Supply Company Operator Pleads Guilty to Medicare, Medicaid Fraud

A Texas woman, who controlled and operated a durable medical equipment supplier, pleaded guilty to devising and carrying out a scheme to defraud Medicare and Medicaid, according to a news release by the Department of Justice.

Sheena Shelton controlled and operated KC Medical Supplies from 2003 to 2009. During that time, Ms. Shelton admitted to submitting fraudulent claims for equipment and supplies, which had not been prescribed or authorized by a physician. She falsified documents saying physicians had prescribed or ordered medical equipment, although they had not, and forged physicians' signatures before submitting them to Medicare and Medicaid.

A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
