New York Dentist Sentenced to 15 Months in Prison for Filing False Claims, False Tax Return
Scott D. Geise, DDS, a Newfane, N.Y., dentist, was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison and ordered to pay restitution after pleaing guilty to healthcare fraud, according to a report by Buffalo News.
The charges include filing false claims for medical equipments he never used or supplied for patients. As a result, he is ordered with paying $125,000 in restitution to insurance companies.
Additional charges he pleaded guilty to were filing false tax returns from 2003 to 2005 and failing to pay taxes from 2002 to 2005. Dr. Geise also assisted an associate with filling out a false claim for healthcare benefits to a local union.
