Louisiana Orthopedic Surgeon Sentenced for Healthcare Fraud
New Orleans-based orthopedic surgeon Windsor Dennis, MD, has been sentenced to one year of home confinement and ordered to pay $750,000 in restitution for defrauding the federal workers' compensation program, according to a report by WXVT News.
Dr. Dennis pleaded guilty in March for fraudulently charging the U. S. Department of Labor's Office of Workers' Compensation Programs for services he claimed to provide to workers after Hurricane Katrina that were never rendered. The false claims amounted to more than $102,000 in charges to the program, according to charges against Dr. Dennis.
He will also serve two years of probation.
