Arkansas ER Physician Charged for Fraudulently Obtaining Prescription Pills

An ER physician from Arkansas was charged for obtaining prescriptions fraudulently, according to a report by Press Argus.

Joseph Charles Kradel, II, MD, allegedly used at least 19 aliases to acquire more than 2,600 hydrocodone pills this year. The arresting officer, Paul M. Smith of the Drug Enforcement Administration, observed Dr. Kradel obtaining hydrocodone from a pharmacy. Mr. Smith says Dr. Kradel used a prescription he wrote in his stepdaughter's name without her consent.

Dr. Kradel allegedly used false prescriptions at 11 other pharmacies in various counties. Video tape surveillance at some of the pharmacies show Dr. Kradel picking up the prescription medication in hospital scrubs. He allegedly told Mr. Smith he wrote the prescriptions to help his addiction to hydrocodone.
