Study: Alternative Health Practices Can Help Treat Chronic Pain

Complimentary and alternative practices ranging from meditation to spinal manipulation show promise for contributing to pain management, according to a release by the American Pain Society.

 

Research presented at the society's annual scientific meeting also showed promise for relaxation techniques, massage, yoga, tai chi and acupuncture.

 

Almost 40 percent of U.S. adults use some form of complementary and alternative practice, and the most common targeted condition is back pain.
