12 New ASCs With Spine Surgery in 2011
A new surgery center, the Frederick, Md.-based American Spine Center, opened this past summer. The ASC provides a multi-disciplinary approach to spine care and includes orthopedic spine surgeons, neurosurgeons and pain management physicians.
Earlier this year Cedar Park (Texas) Surgery Center began offering outpatient spine surgery through an alliance with Austin (Texas) Neurosurgical Institute and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery of Austin. Under the arrangement, Thomas Loftus, MD, founder of Austin Neurosurgical Institute, will perform minimally invasive spine procedures in the ASC.
An ambulatory surgery center was included in the new Center for Orthopedics, Spine and Sports Medicine facility, which is based on Hingham, Mass. It will eventually house South Shore Hospital’s Outpatient Center for Orthopedics, Spine and Sports Medicine.
Florida Hospital Orlando opened a new surgery center to provide head and neck care. The ASC includes eight operating suites and treats patients with spinal disorders and brain tumors, among other conditions.
The Indiana Spine Group announced the opening of its outpatient surgery center in Carmel, Ind. The North Meridian Surgery Center includes an imaging suite, physical therapy suite and medical academic center.
Meridian Surgical Partners opened a new spine-focused ASC in Dallas, the Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery. The ASC was founded through a partnership between Meridian Surgical Partners and local physicians and surgeons.
Lakes Surgery Center in West Bloomfield, Mich., recently purchased the Renaissance robotic spine surgery system from Mazor Robotics. The purchase made Lakes Surgery Center the first ASC to own the company's robotic spine surgery equipment.
Tampa, Fla.-based Laser Spine Institute opened a new surgery center in Oklahoma City. The 9,728-square-foot facility is Laser Spine Institute’s fourth ASC since it was established in 2005.
Jersey City (N.J.) Medical Center opened a same-day surgery center, the Liberty Ambulatory Surgery Center, in June. The ASC includes three operating rooms and one procedure room where specialists, including spine and orthopedic surgeons, can perform procedures.
Next Month, Pinnacle III and physician partners plan to open the Pearland (Texas) Surgery Center, which will include two operating rooms and two procedure rooms. In addition to spine, the surgery center will include orthopedics, ENT, GI and pain management procedures.
The Surgical Institute of Monroe (Mich.) opened this past summer. The $3.5 million ASC offers services in spine, orthopedics and pain management, among other specialties.
Meridian Surgical Partners opened the Zachary (La.) Surgical Center, which is a multi-specialty outpatient facility including spine, pain management and orthopedic procedures. The ASC contains two operating rooms and one procedure room.
