Last week, New Jersey State Senator Nia Gill's Chief of Staff Justin Zimmerman toured North Fullerton Surgery Center in Montclair. "We are trying to inform leadership and staff about who we are, what we do and how we provide cost savings to the economy," says Associate Executive Director of the New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers Simon Schwartz.
Hawthorn Surgery Center relocates in Illinois.
Hawthorn Surgery Center, an affiliate of Surgical Care Affiliates, moved to a new ambulatory surgery center location. Hawthorn Surgery Center, previously located in Libertyville, Ill., moved to the new 15,200-square-foot location in Vernon Hills, Ill., after a seven-month construction period.
Genesis Surgery Center president named corporate medical director of Accident Fund.
Dan. L Hunt, MD, the board president of Genesis Surgery Center in Lansing, Mich., was appointed the corporate medical director of Accident Fund Holdings, a worker's compensation insurance company.
AGA calls for more transparency from CMS.
The American Gastroenterological Association, along with its sister GI societies, has been pushing for more transparency from CMS since the release of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule. The AGA has been involved in lobby efforts on Capitol Hill. Democratic members of the House Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce Committees recently sent a letter to CMS asking the agency to allow physicians to comment on proposed changes.
AHIMA calls for HHS to limit ICD-10 delay.
The American Health Information Management Association recently signed an ICD-10 coalition letter urging HHS to set the new ICD-10 implementation date as Oct. 1, 2015, limiting the delay to one year. The letter stressed the importance of a concrete deadline, without which healthcare stakeholders will not know how to create a preparation and investment timeline.
