Here are six key notes on ambulatory surgery center companies.

Regent Surgical Health promoted Controller Matt Lau to CFO. Former CFO Mike Karnes will continue serving on the Regent Surgical Health board and be Regent's representative of the board to Midland Surgical Health.

In its last financial report for the third quarter of 2014, Surgical Care Affiliates had an adjusted net income of $18.4 million, which was 53.9 percent more than the same period in 2013.

Four ambulatory surgery centers and endoscopy centers affiliated with AmSurg received accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The centers are Connecticut Eye Surgery Center South, Des Peres Square Surgery Center, EndoCentre of Baltimore and Phoenix Endoscopy.

Pinnacle III's Peak One Surgery Center in Frisco, Colo., was in the news for closing after a sprinkler line in the ceiling burst on New Year's Eve.

Timothy Lang, MD, removed a large portion of a turning signal from a 1963 T-Bird from a patient who had it lodged in his arm for more than 50 years at City Place Surgery Center in St. Louis, which is affiliated with Meridian Surgical Partners.

Last year, Cool Springs Surgery Center received the 2014 5-Star Excellence in Healthcare award from Professional Research Consultants. The ASC is affiliated with Surgery Partners.
