Regent Surgical Health gives 2 RISE Scholarships

Regent Surgical Health awarded two individuals RISE Scholarships to young adults.

The scholarship is given to children of Regent partner facility employees who exemplify RISE values — Respectful caring, Integrity, Stewardship and Efficiency through their commitments to families, communities and schools.

Regent Senior Vice President, Operations Joyce Thomas administers this program. The 2014 recipients are Derek LaForest, a freshman at University of California in Santa Barbara with an interest in political science; and Jacqueline Emerson, a senior at Colorado State University with the goal of owning a marketing and design firm serving nonprofit organizations and small businesses.

The program began in 2010 and has awarded more than $10,000 to 15 young adults.

"Though we had a number of deserving applicants apply, we felt these individuals showed the greatest commitment to demonstrating our values each and every day," said Regent CEO Thomas Mallon in a company news letter.
