Quint Studer: Leadership Coach for Hospital CEOs

Quint Studer, founder and CEO of Studer Group, began his career as a special education teacher for 10 years. Mr. Studer entered the healthcare industry in 1984 and said the values of teaching and education carried over to healthcare "very easily." He moved his way up the ranks, serving as department director, vice president and senior vice president at a number of healthcare organizations. He also spent time as president of Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

He founded Studer Group in 2000 to help hospitals and healthcare organizations improve their performance, leadership and patient care. Studer Group was a 2010 recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the organization has helped more than 800 hospitals and healthcare organizations around the country.

Mr. Studer is the author of six books on a variety of leadership and healthcare topics. His first — Hardwiring Excellence — has sold more than 350,000 copies and remains one of the top-selling leadership books for healthcare executives. Other titles include: 101 Answers to Questions Leaders Ask, Results That Last, Straight A Leadership, The HCAHPS Handbook: Hardwire Your Hospital for Pay-For-Performance Success and The Great Employee Handbook.

"Quint is an iconic figure in healthcare and leadership. He has, in practice and theory, helped many CEOs at all sizes of hospitals put [this] concept to work: If you treat the employees as your top priority, everything else will take care of itself. It is amazing to me as a travel[er] in health circles, how many very top leaders in the field attribute the success of their institutions very directly to Quint," says Scott Becker, JD, CPA, partner with McGuireWoods in Chicago and publisher of Becker's Hospital Review.

Mr. Studer will present a complimentary webinar, titled "Gain and Sustain High Performance Through Employee Engagement," on Thursday, April 19 at 1:15 p.m. CST. Learn Mr. Studer's celebrated leadership advice and best practices by registering for the webinar here.
