Proposed Virginia Surgery Center Courted by Nearby County

The Pittsylvania (Vir.) County Board of Supervisors has passed a resolution inviting Centra Ambulatory Surgery to build a facility in the county rather than in Danville, Vir., where the company has faced opposition to its plans, according to a report in the Danville News.

Lynchburg, Va.-based Centra announced the $6.6 million project last year, which includes a two-operating room ASC. The state's Division of Certificate of Public Need issued a recommendation last month to deny Centra's CON request to build the Danvile surgery center.

The Pittsylvania county supervisors offered to support Centra's CON and assist with finding a suitable location for the facility, according to the report.
