Physician organizations support new IPAB repeal legislation

Twenty-seven medical organizations came together to advocate for repealing the Independent Payment Advisory Board.

The Coalition represents more than 450,000 physicians who are endorsing legislation brought forward by democratic and republican members of Congress to repeal IPAB. The legislation, titled Protecting Seniors' Access to Medicare Act is co-sponsored by Phil Roe (R-Tenn.) and Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.).

The Coalition sent a letter of support for the legislation, stating that while the physicians support efforts to stabilize Medicare and make the healthcare system more affordable, IPAB isn't the appropriate mechanism.

There are specialty societies from gastroenterology, orthopedics, gynecology, neurosurgery and plastic surgery involved in the Coalition.
