National health spending projections from 2013 to 2033: 5 things to know

Here are the national health spending projections from 2013 to 2033, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

•    Health spending is projected to grow at an average rate of 5.7 percent for 2013 to2023
•    Average annual projected growth of 6 percent per year is expected for 2015 through 2023.
•    The number of uninsured people is expected to decline from 45 million people in 2012 to 23 million people by 2023.
•    By 2023, health expenditures financed by federal, state and local governments are projected to account for 48 percent of national health spending.
•    Health spending is projected to be 19.3 percent of GDP by 2023, up from 17.2 percent in 2012.
