HMA Joining Lawsuit Over Mississippi Surgery Center
The Mississippi Supreme Court is allowing Health Management Associates to intervene in St. Dominic Health Systems' lawsuit over ownership of an ASC, according to a report by the Sun Herald.
The case involves a breach-of-contract lawsuit St. Dominic filed against Madison Ambulatory Surgery Center in 2008. St. Dominic had agreed to buy the closed ASC to obtain its certificate of need, but after the sale was not completed within 30 days, the ASC was put back on the market and HMA agreed to buy it.
The decision bringing HMA into the case is separate from HMA's dispute with St. Dominic over plans for a second hospital in the area.
