Golf Commentator David Feherty Delivers Keynote Address at ASC Conference
David Feherty, CBS Golf Commentator and Best-Selling Author, gave the keynote presentation at the 20th Annual Ambulatory Surgery Centers Conference in Chicago on Oct. 24.
The presentation, titled "A Nasty Bit of Rough," covered Mr. Feherty's life experience growing up in Northern Ireland and Belfast during times of unrest. He discussed being a caddy for his father and then beginning his own career in golf.
Mr. Feherty also described his challenges with alcohol and painkiller addiction as well as recovering from a biking accident where he was hit by a moving vehicle. Throughout the presentation, Mr. Feherty maintained his humor and wit that makes him so popular on the air.
A large portion of Mr. Feherty's presentation also covered his relationship with Tiger Woods and the impressive games he has played throughout his career. Finally, Mr. Feherty ended with a resounding anecdote about his devotion to the United States service men and women. His charity organization, Feherty's Troops First Foundation for combat-injured men and women are "the single most fulfilling thing that I get to do outside of my family life," he said.
One organization, "Proper Exit," takes wounded warriors back to the spot where they were injured to give them closure.
