City Place Surgery Center in St. Louis hosted an unusual procedure recently to remove a foreign object that had been lodged in a patient for more than 50 years, according to a St. Louis Today report.
The object — a turning signal device from a 1963 Thunderbird — was embedded in the patient's arm during a car accident. Timothy Lang, MD, a surgeon at City Place Surgery Center, performed the procedure.
City Place Surgery Center is a Meridian Surgical Partners facility. Specialties at the ASC include spine surgery, orthopedics, pain management and plastic surgery. The 13,900-square-foot center opened in 2000 and expanded last summer when St. Louis Spine Surgery Center relocated operations to City Place Surgery Center.
