Gulf Breeze, Fla.-based Andrews Institute Ambulatory Surgery Center Chairman Sunil Gupta, MD, was recently featured for creating the Intelligent Retinal Imaging Systems designed for use in clinics and physician offices, according to a PNJ report.
The IRIS device is FDA approved and designed to quickly transmit images to a bank for ophthalmologists to look for signs of vision impairment caused by diabetes, heart disease and other pathologies, according to the report. The device can be used in clinics and healthcare departments.
Dr. Gupta also serves as founder and chief medical officer for IRIS and chairman of the Pensacola, Fla.-based Retina Specialty Institute.
