AmSurg, MFC, Physicians Endoscopy & More – 5 Recent Key Notes on ASC Companies

Here are five news updates on ambulatory surgery center companies.

AmSurg announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2014. Revenues were $263.1 million, up 2 percent from $258.2 million for the first quarter of 2013. "The 2 percent growth in revenue we produced for the quarter primarily reflected the positive impact from the six centers acquired in 2013, as well as a 2.4 percent increase in revenue per procedures," said CEO Christopher Holden, according to a company news release.

Medical Facilities Corporation announced a cash dividend of Cdn$0.09375 per share payable May 15. The payout will be made to stockholders at the close of business April 30.

Physicians Endoscopy named Rodger Baca chief development officer. Mr. Baca previously served as a vice president of acquisitions and development at Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America.

Hospital Corporation of America stock was up 1.66 percent to $49.01 per share during the week of April 14 to 17. Stock prices rose after being down across the board during the week of April 7 to 11.

Amy Maddox, previously business office manager at Cherry Creek Surgery Center, recently became a business office operations manager with SurgCenter Development.
