AMA urges vote on SGR bill as soon as recess ends

Though the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Medicare and CHIP Reauthorization Act, the U.S. Senate did not vote on the legislation before leaving for recess. The American Medical Association is urging the Senate to take immediate action on the new SRG bill after returning from recess.

The current SGR patch expires on March 31 and exposes physicians to a 21 percent cut in Medicare reimbursements.
