AMA names 7 winners of 2015 Dr. Nathan Davis Award for Outstanding Government Service

The American Medical Association announced that there are seven recipients of the 2015 Dr. Nathan Davis Award for Outstanding Government Service.

The award recognizes elected and career officials in federal, state or municipal service whose contributions have promoted medicine and public health improvement.

 

The recipients include:

 

•    U.S. Representative Michael C. Burgess, MD (26th District Of Texas)
•    Former Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe
•    Bruce G. Gellin, MD, MPH, deputy assistant secretary for health and director of the national vaccine program office.
•    Dale P. Sandler, PhD, principal investigator and chief of epidemiology, National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences
•    Indiana State Representative Timothy N. Brown, MD
•    Colorado State Senator Irene Aguilar, MD
•    Joseph W. Thompson, MD, MPH, former surgeon general for the state of Arkansas
