8 Recent Key Notes on ASC Management & Development Companies – AmSurg, Physicians Endoscopy, SCA & More

Here are eight recent ambulatory surgery center management and development company news updates.

AmSurg announced that 10 of its surgery centers are voluntarily participating in the National Patient Safety Program funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The 12-month patient safety collaboration is funded for ASCs and hospital outpatient departments. The program has the potential to include other AmSurg centers.

On Oct. 26, more than 30 employees, family members and friends joined the AmSurg team for the Susan G. Komen Greater Nashville Race for the Cure. More than $1,800 was donated to the cause.

Hospital Corporation of America has reported a net income growth of 1.4 percent to $365 million in its third quarter. Operating income increased 3.5 percent to $701 million and net revenue rose 4.9 percent to more than $8.4 billion.

Physicians Endoscopy received the Cost Management Performance Award at the 2013 MedAssests Healthcare Business Summit. The summit is held to recognize organizations that have had a positive impact on the lives of others.

Surgical Care Affiliates has announced the close of its initial public offering. The IPO included 9,777,778 shares of common stock. Underwriters purchased 1,466,666 additional shares. The total IPO was 11,244,444 shares.

SCA has announced that it will release its third quarter financial results on Nov. 14. The company will hold a conference call the same day to discuss the results.

Vickie Arjoyan, facility administrator and director of nursing at Specialty Surgical Center-Brighton Way in Beverly Hills, Calif., has earned her CASC credential and bachelor of science in nursing degree. The ASC is affiliated with Symbion.

United Surgical Partners International has announced a 17.7 percent increase in consolidated net revenue in the third quarter of 2013 over the same period last year. USPI also announced $63.1 million in operating income, a 12.5 percent increase. During the first nine months of 2013, USPI has acquired one facility, opened a de novo facility and sold interest in one facility.
