ASCAI to hold meeting with Illinois Licensing Board on CON changes.
The Ambulatory Surgery Center Association of Illinois will meet with the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board to discuss proposed changes certificate of need rulings. The meeting was originally scheduled for Sept. 11, but will now be held in October.
Wooster ASC holds open house.
Wooster (Ohio) Ambulatory Surgery Center held an open house to advocate for the use of ASCs and displays its facility. The open house was held in August as a way to celebrate National ASC Day. The center is led by administrator Victoria Caillet and medical director James Gesler, MD.
Study finds TLIF spine surgery to be possible in ASCS.
A study published in the Journal of Spinal Disorders and Techniques has found that outpatient instrumental transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion may be a practical option for the surgery center setting. The study compared TLIF procedures performed in the ASC setting and the hospital outpatient department setting.
25% of CPT changes affect gastroenterology.
The American Medical Association has released the 2014 Current Procedure Terminology code set, which includes 335 changes. Approximately 25 percent of these changes trace back to a two-year effort to revise gastroenterology codes. The new code set applies to all claims filed on or after Jan. 1, 2014.
Tri-State Surgery Center to relocate to Washington Health System facility.
Tri-State Surgery Center in Washington, Pa., will relocate to Washington Health System's 51,000-square-foot outpatient facility in South Strabane Township, Pa. The surgery center will occupy about 19,000-square-feet of the facility. The health system recently broke ground on the new facility.
SGR repeal would cost $175B.
The Congressional Budget Office has found the latest bill aiming to repeal and replace Medicare's sustainable growth rate would cause a $175 billion increase in direct federal spending from 2014 to 2023. The House and Energy Commerce Committee unanimously approved the bill this past summer.
Advanced Surgery Center of Orlando plans spine center.
Advanced Surgery Center of Orlando is planning a spine surgery center in Altamonte Springs, Fla. The proposal is being reviewed by the city.
