Surgical Care Affiliates intends to raise $220 million through its initial public offering, which was filed on Sept. 5. SCA will offer 9.8 million shares priced between $21 and $24.
Erie Shriners Hospitals for Children ASC & Outpatient Specialty Care Center report record patient volume.
Erie (Pa.) Shriners Hospital for Children Ambulatory Surgery Center and Outpatient Specialty Care Center has announced that it treated 14,560 outpatients in 2012, which is the second highest number of outpatients in its history.
Obama recognizes HealthCare.gov glitches, staunchly defends PPACA.
President Barak Obama has acknowledged the HealthCare.gov technical issues, but defended the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. President Obama reminded his audience during a speech in the Rose Garden that he reform law is more than just a website, according to report by The New York Times.
Microsurgical Spine Center surgeons perform Washington's first stem cell spine treatment.
Kathy Wang, DO, and Richard Rooney, MD, of NeoSpine in the Puget Sound Area of Washington, recently performed the state's first stem cell procedure to treat back pain caused by degenerative disc disease. The procedure, developed by Celling Biosciences, was performed at the Microsurgical Spine Center outside of Seattle.
Cardiothoracic surgeon joins La Peer Health Systems.
Ail Mahtabifard, MD, a double-board certified general and cardiothoracic surgeon, has joined the Beverly Hills, Calif.-based network of outpatient surgery centers La Peer Health Systems. Dr. Mahtabifard is the first thoracic surgeon to join La Peer and will lead the Hyperhidrosis Center of Excellence.
CalPERs to expand hip & knee replacement reference pricing to ambulatory surgery.
In 2010, the California Public Employees Retirement System began a public reference pricing initiative for total knee and hip replacement surgery and will now expand the reference pricing to include ambulatory surgery. The program reported a price drop of 26.3 percent after implementation.
Northwest Community Healthcare to sell 49% ownership stake in surgery center.
Northwest Community Healthcare is aiming to sell a 49 percent ownership stake in its Northwest Community Same Day Surgery Center in Arlington Heights, Ill., to physicians that perform procedures at the center. The center has been valued at $4.6 million.
