Uninsured rate hits lowest level since 2008.

Nueterra creates new approach to patient satisfaction.
Nueterra launched a new program to improve patient satisfaction scores at its surgery centers. Riddle Surgical Center is one of the first centers to take on the pilot program, which involves observation of patient and staff interaction and listening exercise to improve communication.

Southgate Surgery Center acquires LENSAR Laser System.
Southgate (Mich.) Surgery Center acquired the LENSAR Laser System, which is designed to offer safer and more accurate cataract removal. The surgery center offers GI and pain management procedures, in addition to ophthalmology.

Florida lawmakers seek to boost medical tourism.
Proposals in the Florida House and Senate seek to spend $5 million in the state's healthcare sector to promote medical tourism. The proposals could benefit hospitals and surgery centers, if enough work is done to accommodate domestic and international travelers.

3M enroll in Medicaid, CHIP through March 1.
Between Oct. 1 and Feb. 28, an estimated 3 million people enrolled in Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance program, according to CMS. The average monthly enrollment increased 5.2 percent compared to July through September 2013. Read the full report on Becker's Hospital Review.

Jones Eye Clinic participates in FDA trial.
Jones Eye Clinic in Sioux City, Iowa, is participating in an FDA-sponsored clinical trial of a new cataract surgery technique. The study is comparing multi-focal interocular lens with traditional procedures. The center has participated in six FDA trials since 2011.  

Highmark to invest $25M in Bethel Park ASC.
Health insurer Highmark plans to invest $25 million for an ambulatory surgery center in Bethel Park, Pa. The ASC is a part of a $118 million total investment in community health projects.
