Here are seven things for ambulatory surgery center leaders to know for Nov. 4, 2013.

Pennsylvania reports growth in ASC industry.
In the fiscal year 2012, Pennsylvania added 10 new ambulatory surgery centers and reported $1.1 billion in net outpatient revenue. The operating margin for ASCs increased from 24.94 percent to 25.83 percent. The state has a total of 281 centers.

Oregon ASCs seek to join coordinated care organizations.
Ambulatory surgery centers in Oregon are seeking to join discussion on providing care for Medicaid patients. State legislature created a CCO to deliver care for Oregon's Medicaid program, but according to the Oregon Ambulatory Surgery Center Association ASCs have yet to be invited to these discussions.

U.S. Senator John Cornyn to speak at annual Texas ASC Society meeting.
The Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society has announced that U.S. Senator John Cornyn will give a speech on the challenges in the country's healthcare system during the society's annual meeting. Bill Wilcox, the CEO of United Surgical Partners International, will deliver the meeting's keynote presentation.

SCA stock price rises.
Last week, Surgical Care Affiliates stock price rose 15 percent from $24 per share to $27.60. SCA shares are currently trading on the NASDAQ Global Select Market with the ticker symbol SCAI.

Marcy Sasso launches ambulatory compliance & consulting company.
Marcy Sasso, previously the director of compliance and development at Facility Development & Management, has launched Sasso Consulting. The company will focus on providing expertise in quarterly audits, billing and collections, benchmarking, recruitment and compliance issues.

Joint Commission releases 2014 patient safety goals for ambulatory care.
The Joint Commission has released the 2014 Ambulatory Care National Patient Safety Goals. The goals include correct patient identification, safe use of medication, infection prevention and prevention of mistakes in surgery.

Disney, ESPN pledge $750k to Connecticut Children's Medical Center Foundation for new ASC.
Disney and ESPN have pledged $750,000 to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center Foundation for an expansion project that includes the construction of a 17,000-square-foot ambulatory surgery center. The center will focus on pediatric and neonatal care.
