Here are seven things for ambulatory surgery center leaders to know for March 3.

Georgia Supreme Court to take on CON dispute case.
The state Department of Community Health issued Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga., a certificate of need for an ambulatory surgery center, but Northside Hospital in Atlanta challenged the decision. A lower court reversed the department's decision. The Georgia Supreme Court will now review the case.

CMS not to budge on ICD-10 deadline.
Despite vocal opposition, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services remains firm on the Oct. 1 deadline for ICD-10 implementation. CMS officials reinforced the unwavering deadline at HIMSS14.

MASCA elects Angie Worley, Sandi Baber to board of directors.
The Missouri Ambulatory Surgery Center Association has elected Angie Worley and Sandi Baber to its board of directors. Ms. Worley is administrator of West Plains Surgery Center and Ms. Baber is vice president of operations for Meridian Surgical Partners.

Public officials, gastroenterologists present importance of colorectal cancer screening to Congress.
Last week, a number of public officials and gastroenterologists met with members of Congress to stress the value of colorectal cancer screening. The meeting, timed to coincide with National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, was sponsored by the American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center gets new administrator.
Zena Jacobs, RN, has been promoted to assistant administrator of physician services at St Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center in Great Bend, Kan. Ms. Jacobs has been with St. Rose since 2000.

NVISON Laser Eye Centers acquire WaveLight lasers.
NVISION Laser Eye Centers, based in Newport Beach, Calif., have acquired Alcon's WaveLight EX500 lasers. NVISION has 17 locations in California and Nevada.

Southern Eye Center holds free surgery day.
Southern Eye Center in Hattiesburg, Miss., held its annual Gift of Sight Day on Feb. 15. The even offers free vision correction surgery for uninsured patients in southern Mississippi. This is the second year the center has held the event.
