OASCA names Chris Skagen executive director.
Oregon Ambulatory Surgery Center Association President Jesseye Arrambide announced Chris Skagen, JD, as the organization's new executive director. Rob Schwartz will now serve as executive director emeritus.
Surgical Care Affiliates announced its fourth quarter and year-end financial results.
The company reported its total net operating revenues were up 10.1 percent from $197.6 million to $217.5 million in its fourth quarter. Net operating revenues for the year-end increased 7.7 percent from $744.9 million to $802 million.
New Jersey Association of ASCs sponsors colorectal cancer awareness events.
In recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, the New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers hosted two events to boost screening awareness. The events were held at The Endo Center in Voorhees (N.J.) and The Endoscopy Center of Bergen County in Paramus, N.J.
Minnesota ASCs perform well on state quality measures.
ASCs have shown high performance on quality measures included in the Minnesota Department of Health Statewide Quality Reporting and Measurement System, implemented in 2011. The department of health recently decided to suspend the program during 2014 and deliberate on ASC reporting requirements for 2015.
Study finds outpatient and inpatient total joint replacement outcomes similar.
Outpatient total joint replacements outcomes are comparable to those done in inpatient settings, according to research presented at the 2014 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Neither group had higher patient satisfaction rates.
La Peer Health Systems adds gynecologist.
La Peer Health Systems, a Beverly Hills, Calif.-based outpatient surgery center, added board-certified gynecologist Tristan Bickman, MD. Dr. Bickman joins La Peer's Surgical Gynecology Division of Excellence.
70% of physicians happier after switching from hospital employment to private practice.
The majority of physicians, 70 percent, who switch from hospital employment to private practice report being happier, according to a Medscape report. Approximately 52 percent of respondents reported switching from hospital employment to independent practice, while 29 percent reported transitioning from private practice to hospital employment.
