From ambulatory surgery center events across the country to news on accountable care organization participation, here are seven news updates for ASC leaders to know for Feb. 3, 2014.

Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine receives business award.
The Sharonville (Ohio) Chamber of Commerce recently granted Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine its 2013 Large Business of the Year award. The practice expanded its ambulatory surgery center and hired more than 50 new employees, including five physicians.

St. Augustine Surgery Center adds total joint program.
St. Augustine (Fla.) Surgery Center announced the addition of a total joint program. The program, led by Tod Northrup, DO, includes shoulder, hip and knee replacement.

Hoag Orthopedic Institute releases surgery center outcomes data.
Hoag Orthopedic Institute released its 2014 outcomes report, including data from its Main Street Specialty Surgery Center in Orange, Calif. The report compares the surgery center's outcomes against national data. Read the report on Becker's ASC Review.

Black Hills Surgical Center to co-sponsor community event.
Black Hills Surgical Center in Rapid City, S.D., will co-sponsor the Quick Draw Auction, a community event designed to highlight and support local artists.

Methodist McKinney acquires Texas surgery center.
Methodist McKinney hospital announced the acquisition of an outpatient surgery center in McKinney, Texas. The hospital retained the center's five primary physicians. The surgery center focuses primarily on orthopedics and pain management.

Trinitas Regional Medical Center opens ASC.
Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, N.J., recently opened a new ambulatory surgery center. A dedication ceremony was held on Jan. 29.

6% of Americans enrolled in ACOs.
Research from Leavitt Partners estimates that 6 percent of Americans are enrolled in an accountable care organization. ACO participation varies widely across the country.
