Here are seven news updates for ambulatory surgery center leaders to know for Dec. 16, 2013.

20.1% Medicare physician pay cut may be delayed, physician to receive 0.5% bump with new budget.
The House of Representatives passed a bipartisan budget that would postpone the 20.1 percent cut to physicians' Medicare pay mandated under the Sustainable Growth Rate until April 1, 2014 is passed. The budget would also give physicians a 0.5 percent raise in the meantime.

Iowa ASC Association announces all state ASCs meet CMS quality reporting requirements.
Michael Patterson, president-elect of the Iowa Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers, has announced that all 28 of the state's ASCs have met the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services quality reporting requirements.

Graymark Healthcare renamed Foundation Healthcare.
Graymark Healthcare has announced that the company is now named Foundation Healthcare. The corporate rebranding reflects the company's recent acquisition of Foundation Surgical Hospital Affiliates and Foundation Surgery Affiliates. The company will now focus on the surgical hospital and facility industry.

Bascom Palmer Eye Institute to expand with new location, ASC.
Bascom Palmer Eye Institute has initiated plans for a 19,800-sqaure foot ambulatory surgery center and medical office building in Naples, Fla. The new location will replace its current, 2,400-square-foot facility.

Northstar Healthcare to acquire Scottsdale surgery center.
Northstar Healthcare has announced that it has won a bid for the acquisition of Brown Hand Center's Scottsdale, Ariz., outpatient surgery center. The company's winning bid was $460,000.

57% of physicians expect ACA exchange participation to be necessary to remain competitive.  
An MGMA report has found that 57 percent of physicians feel that participating in ACA insurance exchanges is necessary to remain competitive. According to the report, 29.2 percent of physicians intend to participate, while 40.2 percent are still deciding whether or not to participate.

Portland Timbers forward undergoes surgery at Oregon Outpatient Surgery Center.
Richard Edelson, MD, recently performed ACL surgery on Portland Timbers forward Rodney Wallace the Oregon Outpatient Surgery Center in Tigard. Dr. Edelson serves as the director of medicine for the Timbers.
