The Ambulatory Surgery Center Association of Illinois will be joining in the Ambulatory Surgery Centers of America's Capitol Hill Fly-In, which will take place September 18 to 19 in Washington D.C. Those attending will be able to discuss why they believe their representatives should support the ASC Quality and Access Act of 2013.
New health insurance exchanges to offer limited choice to drive down premiums.
Many insurance plans offered through the new health exchanges will limit patients' choice of physicians and hospitals in order to lower premiums. Many health insurers believe that patients will accept the choice limitation in exchange for paying lower premiums.
Healthcare organizations have difficulty filling nursing positions.
A CareerBuilder survey, conducted by Harris Interactive, has found that 48 percent of nursing jobs go unfilled for an average of six weeks and 20 percent of nursing jobs remain unfilled for 12 weeks. Of those polled, 24 percent cited the need to hire experienced nurses as a challenge when trying to fill positions.
Saint Anne's Hospital acquires Hawthorn surgery center.
Saint Anne's Hospital in Dartmouth, Mass., has acquired Hawthorn Medical Associates' ambulatory surgery-endoscopy and sleep centers. The hospital has now formed the Saint Anne's Hospital Ambulatory Care Center in North Dartmouth, Mass.
Outsourced healthcare IT market to reach $50B by 2018.
The value of the outsourced healthcare information technology is expected to grow from $35 billion in 2013 to $50.4 billion in 2018. The pressure to lower healthcare costs and increased cash flow management needs are significant factors driving the growth of the market.
Arkansas law requires ASC Medicaid reimbursement to be at 80% of Medicare hospital rate.
In Arkansas, Act 1352 requires that certain procedures performed in an ambulatory surgery center on Medicaid patients be reimbursed at 80 percent of the Medicare rate paid for the same procedure performed at a hospital.
CMS opens registration for ICD-10 basics national provider call.
CMS has invited medical coders, physicians and other healthcare practice members to register for MLN Connects national provider call for ICD-10 basics. The call will take place on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 1:30 p.m. Continuing education credit may be available for participation.
