Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists to open surgery center
Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists, based in Hickory, N.C., plans to open a new surgery center within the next month. The practice first began the certificate of need process for the center three years ago.

Naturopathy ranked highest-reviewed specialty

In a study of 28,000 online physician reviews, Vanguard Communications identified which specialists patients rank the highest.Here are the top five most popular healthcare specialties by average online ranking.

•    Naturopathy: 4.62
•    Audiology: 4.36
•    Oncology: 4.30
•    Osteopathy: 4.30
•    Tattoo removal: 4.22

Gastroenterology also ranked the least popular by average online ranking.

AAAASF turns 35
The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities recently celebrated its 35th anniversary. The accrediting body was established in 1980 and includes surgical, procedural, oral maxillofacial, international surgical and dental programs.

Nemours Children's Health System to open ASC in Pennsylvania
The new centers are planned for King of Prussia and Concord Township, Pa. The projects are slated to be completed this summer.

Automation solutions company Orbograph adds 8th medical billing company
Orbograph is an electronic/paper automation solutions company serving the healthcare revenue cycle management market. The company's Healthcare Payment Automation Center is used by banks, clearinghouses, lockbox companies and outsourcers.

Las Vegas Urology earns AAAHC accreditation
Las Vegas Urology has provided care for patients since 1988 and offers surgery at several hospitals and surgery centers, including Parkway Surgery Center, Seven Hills Surgery Center and Specialty Surgery Center. Their services include da Vinci robotic surgery, oncology, laparoscopic surgery and vasectomy. Office procedures are bladder injections, no-scalpel vasectomy and urgent PC neuromodulation.

PCORI board approves $120M+ for 34 comparative effectiveness studies
The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute board of governors approved more than $120 million to fund 34 patient-centered clinical comparative effectiveness research studies. The grants included $58.5 million for five pragmatic clinical studies focused on radiation therapy for breast cancer, geriatric fractures and treatments for children with bipolar disorder and Crohn's disease.
