Here are six news updates on ambulatory surgery center management and development companies including new leadership appointments and financial results.
Hospital Corporation of America reported $424 million in profit – up 35 percent from the fourth quarter of 2012. As of Dec. 31, 2013, HCA operated 115 freestanding ASCs and 165 hospitals.
Covenant Surgical Partners selected gMed, the gastroenterology-specific electronic health record, for 12 of their facilities. Covenant Surgical Partners plans to expand the system to all of their endoscopy centers.
Medical Facilities Corporation announced that the practice Orthopedic Surgery Specialists has joined Avera Medical Group. The practice has a 35.4 percent interest in MFC's Dakota Plains Surgical Center. Neither MFC nor the physician's ownership will be affected.
Nueterra Global Alliance announced a new partnership with FirstHealth of the Carolinas. FirstHealth of the Carolinas began accepting patients referred by the Nueterra Global Alliance in January.
Regent Surgical Health has appointed Aimee Mingus, RN, Director of Clinical Operations for the company's West Coast surgery centers. Prior to her new role, Ms. Mingus served as pre- and postoperative supervisor for Regent's Surgery Center of Anchorage.
David Fabi, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with AmSurg's Mission Valley Heights Surgery Center, received the Leaders in Total Joint Replacement Generation Next Award.
