Ancillary services are becoming more common among physicians as reimbursements are squeezed lower.
According to Medscape's Ophthalmologist Compensation Report 2014, 22 percent of employed ophthalmologists and 29 percent of self-employed ophthalmologists offer ancillary services. These services can include laser cataract surgery, pharmaceutical dispensing and cosmetic services.
