5 Things to Know About Medline's Acquisition of Spine Technology From Amendia

Medline recently acquired Amendia's anterior cervical fusion distraction pin business.

Medline is a healthcare products manufacturer and distributor to more than 350,000 hospitals, extended care facilities, surgery centers, physician offices, home care agencies and providers, and retailers. Amendia is a provider of innovative Class II and Class III devices used in spinal procedures.

Here are five things to know about the acquisition:

1. Medline now offers a comprehensive offering of surgical instruments for anterior cervical discectomy and fusion procedures as a result of the acquisition.

2. Medline can now offer a full line of retraction and distraction instruments, a wide array of sizes and styles of Kerrison Rongeurs and surgical packs.

3. The acquisition includes Amendia's design and regulatory pathway for the anterior cervical fusion distraction pin.

4. The move broadens Medline's ability to serve the spinal fusion market, which is expected to grow more than 8 percent a year.

5. President of Medline's Operating Room Division Rob Lockwood said the company is expanding their product portfolio to "meet all of our customers' needs across the continuum of care," in a company news release.

Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
