5 Investigative Tasks for Working Through Old Claims

Claims with more than 150 accounts receivable days carry a strong implication that something is wrong with the claim and it needs closer attention, according to an in2itive blog post.

It is important that ambulatory surgery centers undertake investigative tasks to look into all old claims that may be problematic. Here are five investigative actions to take:

1. Run an aging report.
2. Identify specific carriers or aging trends and high-dollar claims.
3. Investigate any state- and payer-specific requirements for the facility's geographical area.
4. Review all documentation on the claim.
5. Correct and resubmit the claim or appeal.
