CMS data shows that a majority of physicians being penalized this year for not having met meaningful use requirements previously will give up less than $1,000 of their Medicare dollars, according to a Medscape report.
Of 256,000 eligible professionals subject to "payment adjustments" in 2015, the data shows that:
• Thirty-four percent will lose $250 or less
• Twenty-one percent will lose $250 to $1000
• Fourteen percent will lose $1000 to $2000
• Thirty-one percent will be fined $2000 or more
According to the report, the AMA noted in an emailed statement that it was "alarmed by [the] announcement that more than three quarters of eligible professionals have still been unable to attest to meaningful use."
