20th Annual Surgery Centers Conference: 3 Things to Know About ASCs & ACOs
As accountable care organizations continue to form, many ambulatory surgery center leaders are wondering where their centers fit in. Here are three things to know about ACOs and what they mean for ASCs.
1. In order to participate in an ACO, ASCs need to be prepared to meet certain requirements, including legal structure, common leadership, information system and quality reporting.
2. ASCs could become part of a local/general network, which would involve working with familiar providers.
3. ASCs could become part of a wide/specific network, which would involve working with providers in a larger geographic area and bidding for all ACO contracts in that area.
At the 20th Annual Ambulatory Surgery Centers Conference in Chicago, John R. Seitz and Tamar R. Glaser will discuss these issues and more during a presentation titled "ACOs: Recognizing the Opportunity for Your ASC."
Mr. Seitz is the CEO and co-founder of MMX Healthcare and Ms. Glaser is the president and co-founder of MMX Healthcare.
This exclusive practical business, legal and clinical guidance conference will be held October 24 to 26.
