Here are 10 ASC-specific and nationwide statistics about cosmetic/plastic surgery.
1. Here is the average physician/surgeon fee per procedure for the seven most common surgical cosmetic procedures in 2009 (total number of procedures performed in 2009 in parentheses):
- Breast augmentation silicone gel implant (311,957)* — $3,860
- Breast augmentation saline implant — $3,541
- Lipoplasty suction-assisted (283,735)** — $2,803
- Lipoplasty ultrasound-assisted — $3,095
- Blepharoplasty (149,943) — $2,717
- Rhinoplasty (138,258) — $4,493
- Abdominoplasty (127,923) — $5,381
2. The average gross charges per plastic surgery case for surgery centers is $6,426. The median is $5,866.
3. The average net revenue for plastic surgery cases in ASCs is $1,596 (median $1,487). The median net revenue was highest in the Southwest ($1,830), whereas it was lowest in the Southeast ($1,131).
4. Here are the median net revenues per plastic surgery case by the total number of ORs in a surgery center:
- 1-2 ORs — $1,490
- 3-4 ORs — $1,446
