Baptist Health Care in Pensacola, Fla. has announced it will acquire West Florida Hospital, an HCA facility, for $245 million, according to the Pensacola News.

If the deal is approved, it is expected that Baptist Hospital will move its acute-care and emergency-room services to West Florida’s facility, located on North Davis Highway. Baptist has also indicated its intentions to spend $85 million at the location for building plans which will include a new cancer center and doubling the size of the ER, according to the Pensacola News.

It is believed that the acquisition could mean a loss of 320 jobs and a loss of $1.5 million in property taxes because of Baptist Health Care’s status as a nonprofit organization. It will give Baptist Health Care ownership of 60 area healthcare facilities.
